Local officials in Badakhshan have said that during the recent flood, ten members of a family died in the Murchak area of Faizabad, the provincial capital.
Mohammad Kamgar, head of disasters of provincial disaster management authority, said that the incident happened last night in the Murchak area of the provincial capital Faizabad, and women and children are among the dead.
He added that rescue teams are busy finding bodies and casualties are likely to rise.
It comes a day after floods damaged agricultural lands, water channels, and roads in Shuhada and Warduj districts of Badakhshan province.
Fresh floods have struck three districts of Badakhshan province, destroying dozens of homes and causing other financial losses, officials said Saturday.
Mawlawi Mohammad Akram Akbari, Director of the Badakhshan Natural Disaster Management Department, told Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) that severe floods swept through various areas of Wardoj, Shuhada, and Juram districts following heavy rains last night, causing widespread damages.
He added that the floods destroyed approximately 50 homes and damaged hundreds of acres of agricultural land.
