The ruling Taliban government of Afghanistan has formed a high-level committee to inquire about the unrest in Badakhshan province. The committee includes central ministers and will be headed by Chief of Army Staff Qari Fasihuddin Fitrat. A notification from the Afghan government said that this committee was formed by the directives of the head of the Taliban (Amirul Momineen) and will conduct a thorough investigation into this matter. The resolve of Islami Emarat to eradicate poppy cultivation, its trading, and smuggling was very clear for the entire Afghanistan and there will be no compromise, the notification said.
The committee includes Mawlawi Shamsuddin Shariati, the head of overseeing and monitoring directives and commands, Mullah Abdul Haq Deputy Minister of Narcotics Control, Ministry of Interior, Mullah Rahmatullah Najeeb Deputy General Directorate of Intelligence, and Mawlawi Abdul Momin Chairman of Badakhshan Ulema Council.
