Following the killing of one local citizen by security forces in Dareem district of Badakhshan, residents of the area came out on protest. The protestors chanted slogans against the officials and security forces. The public protest has expanded with more people joining it.
Commenting on the situation, Abdul Ghani Matin, spokesman of the Interior Ministry, says that actually the incident was related to the eradication of poppy cultivation in the district while some people were against this drive. He kept saying that the ministry is trying to solve the matter with the cooperation of the local elders.
Ghani said that the situation in Dareem Badakhshan was in control of authorities. Emirate, the security forces are obliged to implement the verdict on the elimination of poppy cultivation.
