Rahim Yar Khan, Pakistan – In a tragic turn of events, at least 12 police officers were killed in an ambush by armed dacoits in the southern Punjab district of Rahim Yar Khan. The incident occurred in the disreputable “Kacha” area, a region known for its lawlessness and criminal activity.
According to reports, the heavily armed dacoits launched a brutal assault on a police camp, resulting in the deaths of 12 officers. Additionally, five other officers are currently missing, their whereabouts unknown.
The “Kacha” areas, straddling the provinces of Punjab and Sindh, have long been considered a haven for various dacoit groups. These criminals are notorious for kidnapping individuals for ransom and engaging in other violent crimes. Despite repeated efforts by police forces from both provinces to clear these regions of criminal elements, success has been limited.
At present, law enforcement is engaged in yet another large-scale operation aimed at ridding these areas of dacoit gangs. However, the recent attack underscores the formidable challenges that security forces face in their ongoing battle against entrenched criminal networks in the region.
