Two miners lost their lives following a goldmine collapse in the Arghanchkhwa district of Afghanistan’s northern Badakhshan province, local sources confirmed on Saturday.
The incident occurred in the Taaq Archa area of Arghanchkhwa on Friday afternoon, according to a local resident who talked to the media. The source reported that part of the goldmine caved in, trapping the miners inside. Despite efforts by local villagers and security forces, the two miners were found dead when their bodies were finally retrieved from the rubble.
This tragic event follows another fatal mining accident just days earlier, when three miners were killed in a similar collapse in the Khawahan district of Badakhshan last Thursday. The region, known for its mineral wealth, has long struggled with unsafe mining conditions, often leading to such deadly accidents.
