Fahim Zazai, an Afghan who fled his country 23 years back and reached Bermingham, received an MBE award for his services to the community. One of the first Afghan refugees to arrive in Walsall has been made an MBE, recognizing his incredible services to the community. Mohammed Fahim Zazai, known as Fahim, fled the Afghan war 23 years ago and arrived in the Black Country without any of his friends or family, or able to speak a word of English.
Fahim, 46, had to start his life in Walsall from zero after fleeing ongoing war and conflict in Afghanistan.
Fahim said, “This ward is not only for me but for my whole community and colleagues at the center, they are part of my community work supporting me to help people in need. This award will give me more strength and encouragement to continue my work in the community to make a difference.”
