Agha Khan Education Service, Pakistan (AKESP) has approved the establishment of a higher secondary school in Garam Chashma. The school will be built on a modern campus with state-of-the-art facilities. A groundbreaking ceremony was held at the school site, attended by dignitaries including Firoz Ghulam Hussain, the donor of the project, and Lt. Col. Anjum Mashthaq.
Regional Council for Lower Chitral President Zafaruddin presided over the ceremony. AKESP CEO Imtiaz Mumin, Head of Education Aien Shah, General Manager Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral Brigadier (Rtd) Khush Muhammad Khan, and other local notables also attended.
In his address, General Manager AKESP Brigadier (Rtd) Khush Muhammad Khan welcomed the guests and said that today was a historic day, as a new educational institution was being established in the area. He praised the community’s enthusiasm for education and acknowledged the support of donors, particularly Firoz Ghulam Hussain, who donated the land for the school.
Aien Shah, Head of Education AKESP, presented a detailed overview of the school, which will have a capacity of over 1,300 students from grade 1 to 12. The school building is expected to be completed by 2027, and pre-primary classes have already started.
Firoz Ghulam Hussain, the donor, expressed his gratitude to the community for their warm welcome and said that he was proud to be a part of the Agha Khan Education Service. He emphasized the importance of education and hoped that the school would bring positive change to the lives of the people in the area.
Lt. Col. Anjum Mashthaq praised the Aga Khan Education Service for its contributions to education and said that the people of Chitral were known for their love of knowledge and peace.
AKESP CEO Imtiaz Mumin thanked Firoz Ghulam Hussain and his wife for their generosity and acknowledged the support of the community. He emphasized that establishing such institutions required collective efforts and unity among all stakeholders.
In his closing remarks, Regional Council for Lower Chitral President Zafaruddin Sahib highlighted the importance of educational institutions like Aga Khan Higher Secondary School in Chitral’s development and thanked the community, donors, and AKESP for their support.
