Jalalabad: A newly constructed health center in Kunar province’s Manogi district has been inaugurated, offering a much-needed boost to healthcare services in the region.
The facility, funded by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) with an investment of AFN 23.5 million, is located in the Licha Lam area and has been built to modern standards, providing essential medical services to the local population.
The official inauguration was presided over by Afghanistan’s Acting Minister of Public Health, Noor Jalal Jalali. Expressing his satisfaction with the project, Jalali praised the facility as a significant step toward improving healthcare in rural Afghanistan. “This health center is a vital achievement for the people of Licha Lam and represents an important milestone in our ongoing efforts to enhance access to healthcare across the country,” he said.
The ceremony also saw the participation of Minister of Communications and Information Technology Najibullah Hayat Haqqani, Kunar Governor Qudratullah Abu Hamza, representatives of partner organizations, and members of the local community.
Designed to meet the healthcare needs of thousands of residents in the surrounding areas, the facility addresses a critical gap in medical services in this remote district. Local tribal elders and Kunar officials welcomed the initiative, extending their gratitude to the Ministry of Public Health and UNHCR for their support. They noted that the health center would significantly improve healthcare access for the region’s population.
This new facility forms part of a wider effort by Afghan health authorities to develop healthcare infrastructure in underserved regions, aiming to tackle the pressing health challenges faced by rural communities throughout the country.
