Afghanistan ruling Taliban have admitted discussions were held in Doha over the release of two US citizens detained in Afghanistan.
In a press conference in Kabul, the spokesperson for Afghan interim government, Zabihullah Mujahid said that their government would release US citizens only in exchange of their collagues imprisoned in US or in Guantanamou.
He admitted that the matter came under discussion with US counterparts in Doha but not yet decided. We have set condition for it, US citizens will be free if our colleagues were released from American captivity, Mujahid said.
Mujahid did not disclose name(s) of their colleagues wanted to get released from US captivity but he urged US to accept the deal.
Mujahid added that US citizens were important to them and Afghan citizens were important for us, so unless both sides reach a deal, we will not be able to release the two Americans in our captivity.
