Kabul: At least three people have died, and 20 others have been injured following severe flooding in the Kuz Kunar district of Nangarhar province, local media reported. The floods, which have caused widespread destruction, have also left around 150 homes damaged or destroyed in the affected district.
According to the Bakhtar News Agency, which operates under the Taliban administration, heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding have also inflicted substantial damage in Mehtarlam, the capital of Laghman province, and in the Alingar district. The flooding has resulted in the destruction of properties, though the full extent of the damage is still being assessed.
This recent flooding highlights the vulnerability of eastern Afghanistan to extreme weather conditions, as the region grapples with infrastructure challenges and limited disaster preparedness.
