In a tragic incident in Balochistan’s Musakhail district, armed assailants killed 23 people after forcibly removing them from their vehicles at a roadblock on a highway, police reported on Monday.
The attack, which targeted trucks and buses on an inter-provincial highway near Rarah Sham, was confirmed by Musakhail’s police chief, Ayub Achakzai. The victims, primarily from Punjab, were brutally shot dead after being dragged out of their vehicles.
Before fleeing the scene, the attackers set more than 10 vehicles ablaze, Achakzai added.
A significant police and levies force was dispatched to the area, and the bodies were transported to a nearby hospital. Authorities have since launched a thorough investigation into the attack.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti strongly condemned the heinous act, offering heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families. Bugti emphasised that the terrorists had targeted innocent civilians and vowed that neither the attackers nor their accomplices would escape justice. He assured the public that the government would relentlessly pursue those responsible for this atrocity.
