The spokesperson for Afghanistan’s Taliban-led government, which refers to itself as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, has unequivocally dismissed concerns raised by Western nations and institutions about the presence and potential threat of ISIS in Afghanistan. The spokesperson labeled these concerns as unfounded and driven by propaganda.
Zabihullah Mujahid, in a statement on his social media platform, asserted that the Islamic Emirate’s security forces have carried out extensive operations against ISIS, resulting in significant damage to the group.
Mujahid emphasized that Afghanistan is entirely under the control of the Islamic Emirate, and no unauthorized foreign or domestic groups are allowed to operate within the country. He clarified that, despite the prevailing security and stability in Afghanistan, any ongoing concerns about ISIS or other groups are merely attempts to promote them and should be discontinued. He called for an end to efforts that could mislead and confuse public opinion.
Mujahid reiterated his government’s stance, declaring, “The Afghan government (Islamic Emirate) will not allow anyone to use Afghan soil to threaten the security of any country, nor will Afghanistan become a source of threat to any nation.”
