Prime Minister Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif has directed the federal government to immediately purchase wheat from farmers. In a statement issued by PM office in Islamabad, PM Shahbaz Sharif took immediate action on the complaints of farmers. The statement further said that PM has also directed to increase the target of wheat procurement from 1.4 million metric tons to 1.8 million metric tons. The premier has also issued instructions to the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation to increase the target of wheat procurement and ensure transparency for farmers in the procurement process.
